I wrote a while ago about how I thought KeepNote was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Since then the enthusiasm has wanned when sometimes it had quirks that annoyed me but yet I am still using it. This is what I’ve learned about the amazing program that is KeepNote.

  • KeepNote is way faster under Linux- I’m not sure why but linux just brings the best out in KeepNote and it can load notebooks and other files several times faster than when running on Windows 7.
  • KeepNote is not made to have on notebook as a universal notebook like how OneNote acts with all notebooks loaded in the application at the same time.
  • KeepNote works better in Linux because it’s made for Linux! Things are more compatible and things open better. All the utilities it’s looking for are there to be used and so it seems much more smooth than KeepNote in windows which relies on windows tools that are hard to setup compared to in Linux.

I’ve also learned that specifically you must store your information in separate notebooks for it to be effective. For instance I have a General Reference notebook for information and notes I have about things that maybe I learn from lifehacker or some website. I also have a notebook right now for a journal I’ve decided to keep which KeepNote lends it’s self to very easily.

Over all KeepNote has turned in to everything I needed and my wish to make extensions is on pause because not only do I do not understand how to make them but I can’t think of anything productive to make!
